Trismus Exercise Device

A trismus exercise device is a tool designed to help individuals with trismus, also known as lockjaw, to improve jaw mobility, strengthen the muscles involved in chewing, and restore normal function. Trismus is a condition characterized by the inability to fully open the mouth due to muscle spasms, fibrosis, or scarring of the muscles that control jaw movement, usually caused by trauma, surgery (e.g., after head and neck cancer treatment), or certain medical conditions such as temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ), stroke, or neurological diseases.

The goal of a trismus exercise device is to assist in the gradual stretching and strengthening of the jaw muscles, thereby increasing mouth opening and improving the range of motion over time. These devices often provide resistance or assisted motion to help the user progressively regain jaw function.
