Laryngectomy Button

A laryngectomy button is a small medical device used by patients who have undergone a total laryngectomy (removal of the larynx, or voice box). This procedure is often performed due to laryngeal cancer or other serious conditions affecting the larynx. After a laryngectomy, the patient’s trachea and esophagus are rerouted, and a permanent hole (called a stoma) is created in the neck to allow for breathing through the trachea rather than the nose or mouth.

The laryngectomy button is used to maintain the integrity of the stoma and improve comfort, airflow, and hygiene for the patient post-surgery
